Hull FC have been busy in recent weeks trying to patch up their squad with several loan moves, but now they’ve added further firepower from Down Under with the arrival of two players from the NRL. Jed Cartwright (son of incoming coach John) and Treigh Stewart have both arrived immediately on 18-month contracts from Newcastle Knights and Brisbane Tigers, respectively.
They weren’t the only players announced to be playing in Black and White soon this week though, as Hull FC also announced earlier in the week that half-back Jordan Abdull will be re-joining the club once his current loan contract with the Catalans Dragons comes to an end. Since leaving FC permanently in 2019, Abdull has impressed for the London Broncos, on loan at Catalans, and most notably at cross-city rivals Hull KR. He joins FC on a three-year deal from the 2025 season.
Speaking of Hull KR, they put all speculation to rest this week about their replacement for Ryan Hall, finally confirming the long rumoured arrival of Tom Davies from the Catalans Dragons. The product of the Wigan academy, who has one international cap for England under his belt, will join the Robins in 2025 on a three-year deal.
Last week, Salford confirmed the capture of young Australian loose forward Loghan Lewis from the Canberra Raiders. The 21-year-old joins the Red Devils on a deal until the end of the season, with an option of an additional year, as he looks to build his fledgling career following nine appearances in the NRL so far this season.
