The RFL have today announced the three clubs who have officially applied to become part of League One in 2025.
Earlier this year, the governing body announced plans to expand League One to twelve clubs, from the current nine, inviting expressions of interest from other clubs outside of the professional game.
Eleven initial expressions of interest were received, but three clubs have formally applied for membership of League One, those clubs being Anglian Vipers, Bedford Tigers and Goole Vikings.
According to the RFL official website: “The three applications will now be considered, with visits to the applicants to assess their home stadia and other facilities, which will be followed by formal presentations at Rugby League’s Etihad Campus headquarters in August – and a decision expected by the end of September.”
Anglian Vipers are based in Wymondham, Norfolk, and play in the East Rugby League.
Bedford Tigers play in the Southern Conference League, and also field a Men’s team in the East Rugby League.
Goole Vikings play in the Yorkshire Men’s League.
Any updates on this situation will be reported on this site as soon as it breaks.
