Hello and welcome to a new series of articles for the 2025 season, tracking injuries in the Super League, and how long injured players may be out for. In each edition, there will be a few select headlines detailing injuries recently suffered, and at the bottom of the article will be a list of clubs and their currently injured players.
Maika Sivo Out For the Season
Star Leeds Rhinos signing Maika Sivo has unfortunately likely been ruled out for the entire 2025 season, suffering an ACL injury in the club’s pre-season friendly against Wigan. The 31-year-old Fijian international joined the Rhinos from the Parramatta Eels during the off-season on a three-year deal, and his loss is sure to be a big blow to Brad Arthur’s season preparations.
On Sivo’s injury, head coach Brad Arthur told the club website: “Our first thoughts are with Maika and we will all get round him and give him and his family our support. Our medical team will make sure he has the best possible treatment to come back from the injury as soon as possible. Maika is a strong character and I am sure he will throw himself into his recovery to get back to his best.”
Rhinos sporting directo Ian Blease also added: “This is an extremely tough blow for us as a club but especially devastating for Maika who has fitted in so well in our group. We were all excited to see what he could do in Super League in 2025 but we will just have to wait for that now.”
“In terms of our squad, we will need to review the full situation and look at all our options. We have some outstanding young players who could well now get the opportunity to grab their chance, and I will be discussing all our options with the club, Brad and the coaching staff in the coming weeks ahead of the season kicking off.”
We would like to wish Maika Sivo all the best in his recovery from this devastating blow, and we look forward to seeing him take the pitch in Super League in 2026.
