Salford Red Devils have today announced that they have accepted the resignation of CEO Chris Irwin. Director Kurt Graver has also believed to have departed the beleaguered club.

Irwin joined the club as CEO earlier this year following the takeover of the consortium headed up by Swiss investment banker Dario Berta. He gave an incendiary interview on Sky Sports last month detailing the many struggles of the job thus far, and now it seems those struggles have resulted in him choosing to leave.

Where this leaves the Red Devils, whose financial issues stretch back years remains to be seen, but it’s fair to say that the club inches further to the edge with each passing day. We here at Gerrim Onside sincerely hope there can be a positive outcome for the club sooner rather than later.
