Catalans Dragons have today reportedly parted ways with their head coach, Steve McNamara.

The former England coach joined the Dragons in 2017, and lead them to their maiden piece of silverware when they lifted the Challenge Cup in 2018, defeating the Warrington Wolves at Wembley, as well as leading the club to two Grand Final appearances . He was also the coach of Bradford Bulls from 2006 to 2010, and had stints as an assistant coach in the NRL. In his playing career he represented hometown club Hull FC, Bradford Bulls, Wakefield Trinity (then the Wildcats), and Huddersfield Giants.

Despite his successes in previous years, his departure comes after a poor start to the 2025 season, and a disappointing 2024, which saw Les Dracs miss out on the play-offs. His last match in charge was a 40-0 drubbing at the hands of St Helens.

The Dragons currently sit in 8th place in the Super League table, two places outside the play-off positions, with champions Wigan Warriors set to visit the Stade Gilbert Brutus this weekend.

Keep an eye on our website for more updates as and when they arrive. This post will be updated when a club statement is released.
