It’s a funny old round is round twenty. Although myself and Ian will be posting all of our predictions for the round here, we won’t actually know all of the results for another fortnight, as it is a split round. So please bear in mind that there will be no post next week.

Round nineteen kicked off in St Helens, where the famous Red V welcomed the in-form Leigh Leopards to the Totally Wicked Stadium. Both teams were coming into the game on the back of winning runs, and looked to solidify their respective pushes for the top four. In the end, however, it was the Leopards who came away with the two points, with a second half brace from Joe Ofahengaue enough to see the Leythers win by a score of 16-4.

Friday night saw a pair of games played in West Yorkshire, as the Huddersfield Giants welcomed a Wakefield Trinity side hoping to bounce back from a defeat to Hull FC, and the Leeds Rhinos entertained the Salford Red Devils, who were on a high following only their second win of the season last week. Wakefield strolled to victory over the Giants, seeing them off in a game that ended 46-10, whilst the Rhinos ensured the Red Devils were back in the losers club, defeating the struggling side 42-6 at AMT Headingley.

Saturday saw both Hull teams play on the road, and both come away with a positive result. Firstly, and most shockingly, Hull FC outclassed a disjointed Wigan Warriors side at the Brick Community Stadium, running away with a 32-12 victory, marking the second time the Black and Whites have beaten Wigan on home turn in 2025. Later in the day in the South of France, FC’s table-topping neighbours Hull KR got back to winning ways when they defeated Catalans Dragons 34-6. A returning Mikey Lewis inspired a Hull KR side back into the winners column, and in doing so, restored their four-point lead at the top of the table.

The biggest shock of the weekend, however, occured in its final game, as the Castleford Tigers, on the back of being defeated by Salford last week, beat Challenge Cup finalists Warrington Wolves at the Mend-a-Hose Jungle. Despite taking an early lead seven minutes in through Sam Stone, the Wolves were outplayed throughout the majority of the match and ultimately fell to a score of 20-14.
