In news that will come as a surprise to very few people, Hull KR tonight announced the signing of Jack Charles, from cross-city rivals Hull FC on a four-year deal, tying him down until the end of the 2029 season.
The 19-year-old scrum half has already made 22 Super League appearances for the Black and Whites, as well as two caps with the England Academy.
The son of a former Robin (Chris Charles, who played for Rovers between 1993 and 2002) Jack Charles will serve as back-up to regular Hull LR half backs Mikey Lewis and Tyrone May, the Robins will hope that this signing will secure the future of the teams spine for years to come.
Jack Charles had this to say to the Hull KR website: “First of all, I’m really excited to get started. It’s a bit surreal. My family are all Red and White. But this was ultimately my own decision and I want to stamp my own legacy at the club and on the game.”
Head coach Willie Peters also added: “We’re pleased to welcome Jack (Charles) to Hull KR. He’s an exciting young half and his best years are ahead of him. Jack has the opportunity to learn from our staff alongside Tyrone May and Mikey Lewis, which will give him the best opportunity to develop into a Super League player at Hull KR.”
“We’re looking forward to working with Jack in 2026 and beyond.”
