It has been confirmed today that the Magic Weekend will continue in the 2026 season. Speculation had been rampant in recent weeks and months over the future of the event, with the Super League expansion seemingly leaving no room for the flagship event in the calendar.
These fears were put to rest today, however, as it was announced that the Magic Weekend will be heading to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Liverpool, next July. This marks rugby league’s swift return to the stadium following its hosting of the second Ashes test earlier this month.
Furthermore, the weekend’s format will return to its roots as a place where close rivals will go head-to-head, with games such as the Hull derby, Wigan vs St Helens, and Leeds vs Bradford returning to Magic Weekend.
There are also hopes that a Magic fixture between Catalans Dragons and Toulouse Olympique can be held at a neutral venue in France, while the other twelve teams clash on Merseyside.
