It’s been a slow month on this site due to the off-season, but while the teams are back in preseason training, so too have I been preparing for the 2026 season. Some subtle tweaks will come in from the 2026 season on this website, chief amongst them being that the former ‘Upcoming Fixtures’ page has become the ‘Fixtures & Results’ page. Rather than a weekly results round-up like I have done in the past, all results will now be posted after every game on that page. I’m currently in the process of pre-loading the season’s NRL & Championship fixtures onto there in time for the new season, and you’ll be able to track all the season’s results on one page!
Referee Appointment posts will return for 2026 and will be posted every Tuesday as they are released by the RFL. Ian vs Nathan will also make its triumphant return in the 2026 season, following its inaugural year in 2025, where editor Nathan took the crown. Will he defend it, or will his cross-city rival snatch it from his grasp? I’ll also be posting a season preview early in January, like I did this year, which will include my 2026 predictions.
I’m also working on a new book project to be released under the Gerrim Onside banner, another almanac-style book that will chart the course of Hull KR’s journey from administration in 1997 to being crowned treble-winning champions in 2025. The book will include every result from that time period, as well as (where available) the try scorers and squads through the year. An Australian rugby league almanac is also in the pipeline, but likely won’t see publication until 2027.
I know that a website talking about their traffic is boring, so I won’t waste too many words on telling you about our engagement levels, but suffice it to say that 2025 eclipsed our maiden year, with over 52,000 (as of 22/12/25) views across the year. All of my sincerest thanks go to every one of those readers for coming to us for your rugby league content, and for putting up with my waffle!
All that’s left for me to do in 2025 (unless there’s any major breaking news in the last week!) is to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year. See you all in the stands in 2026!
