Some of you may have noticed that the community game is no longer represented in our ‘Fixtures & Results’ or ‘Tables’ page. Far from being because we don’t see the community game as important, it’s because, as the site and its scope grew, I (editor Nathan) found it increasingly difficult to keep up and collate all the results in time for the old results round-up, and it was adding far too much stress onto something I do as a hobby. This would have been especially hard this year, given the restructure of the community game. So, I’m retooling our approach to how we report the community game.
Every week (when the season starts), a round-up of all the community results will be posted across the whole spectrum of the game at the grassroots level. This will (hopefully) include the entire new NCRL pyramid, the women’s game (below the Women’s Super League), and the wheelchair leagues. This way, we will still be able to report on the goings-on at these levels, without tying ourselves to masses of work on a Sunday evening/Monday afternoon. I hope to produce these round-ups on Tuesday and Wednesday every week, by which time all the results should be reported.
That’s not all, though, as I also plan on bringing any news features or broader updates to the community game as part of this round-up. I’ll be keeping my ear to the ground for any stories worth reporting on in these updates, but if you or your club have something you would like to share with our readers, please email us at gerrimonside@gmail.com.
The grassroots seasons all start at different times, with the new NCRL seasons starting in March (all besides the Southern Conference) and April (Southern Conference only), the women’s leagues starting at a similar time, while the wheelchair leagues don’t get kicked off until even later this season. These updates won’t be coming until there are significant developments to report, so look for the first one in early March!
