Local businessman and club sponsor Steve Hodgins has been appointed as the new president of Hull FC, effective from 1stMarch.
The role, which has previously been filled by Roy Waudby and David Kirkwood, has been reintroduced as part of the club’s long term commitment to heritage, community and strong leadership.
Speaking on club website hullfc.com, Mr Hodgins said, “This club has been a major part of my life, and I have always been incredibly proud to support it both on and off the field.
“Hull FC means a great deal to me, and I’m very grateful to the board for their trust. I’m looking forward to playing my part in supporting the club, its supporters and its future.”
Chairman Andrew Thirkill added, “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Steve as our club President.
“Steve’s support for this club has been unquestionable, and he has been there for Hull FC not just as a fan, but as a genuine supporter of what the club stands for.
“The board was unanimous in its view that Steve was the right person to take on this role.
“As we build a new culture and a stronger future for Hull FC, it feels entirely fitting that some one with Steve’s history, loyalty and integrity should become our new Club President.”
