Will Pryce to miss the rest of the season

Hull FC fans were left worried after their star full-back Will Pryce limped off in the closing minutes of their match against Wigan Warriors this past weekend. Their worst fears were confirmed on Monday when the club confirmed via the team’s website that the 23-year-old has ruptured his ACL, requiring surgery and sidelining him for the remainder of the season.

Since joining the Black and Whites partway through the 2025 season, Pryce has endured some truly terrible luck with injuries. First, he suffered a hamstring problem, quickly followed by a foot injury, which limited him to just ten appearances in 2025. Despite these early injury problems, it is hoped that time is on his side, given his young age, to reach his potential in the coming years.

Hull KR suffer double injury blow in World Club Challenge victory

It was a night to remember for the red and white half of Hull this past Thursday night, when the reigning Super League champions, Hull KR, defeated the NRL premiers, the Brisbane Broncos, in a thrilling 30-24 victory at the MKM Stadium. While celebrations abounded, however, the victory came with a cost, as fullback Arthur Mourgue and pack powerhouse Dean Hadley both suffered injuries.

Mourgue’s injury came late in the second half, when the Frenchman was led from the field, favouring his arm, following a defensive effort to prevent a try. It is believed that he has suffered a torn pectoral muscle, necessitating a spell on the sidelines of up to three months. Meanwhile, Dean Hadley showed his grit by remaining on the field despite a potentially fractured eye socket. The utility forward was seen after the match with a badly swollen eye, leaving some to speculate how long he might also be missing for Willie Peters’ side. However, it has emerged in the last few days that Hadley has made the trip to Las Vegas with his teammates, and could yet still be in contention to play against Leeds this weekend, with a call to be made later this week.

Saints injury hoodoo continues

Friday night saw St Helens secure their first win of the Paul Rowley era when they narrowly overcame the Leigh Leopards 20-18. It was not plain sailing for the Red Vee, however, as they lost two more key players to injury. Former club captain Jonny Lomax dislocated his wrist in the fiercely contested clash, and Nene Macdonald suffered a shoulder injury. Add to this that Matty Lees and Jack Welsby are also both out long-term, and it means that the Saints are looking very thin in key positions. Deon Cross and George Delaney also left the field for HIAs during the game; while it is known that Cross passed his assessment, the outcome of Delaney’s is unknown.

Quick News:

  • Castleford’s Alex Mellor came off with an undisclosed leg injury during his side’s loss to Toulouse this week.
  • Huddersfield Giants’ crowded injury list has continued to grow, after losing Harry Rushton and Joe Greenwood. The pair could miss up to ten weeks of action.
  • Hull FC are hopeful that both Zak Hardaker and Jake Arthur will be in the team to face York this week. John Asiata & James Bell are still doubtful, however.
  • Leigh Leopards have named Umyla Hanley & Frankie Halton in their team to face the Wigan Warriors, but both are doubtful to be played.
  • Meanwhile, Leigh’s opponents, Wigan Warrior,s will be without centre Jake Wardle, who suffered an MCL injury and is due to miss 3-4 months of action. Abbas Miski is also a doubt for the Warriors.
  • York are expected to welcome back Ata Hingano and Jessie Dee for their clash against Hull FC this Friday.

Everyone at Gerrim Onside wishes a speedy recovery to all players mentioned in this week’s round-up.
